Mohila Heroyiv - Hill of Monuments

The Mohila Heroyiv, or Hill of Monuments, often simply referred to as Mohila, stands as a profound tribute to Ukrainian valor and resilience. This evocative site features a stage, flanked by ascending steps leading to flagpoles for Ukrainian and American flags, and a landscaped cross. The centerpiece of Mohila is a poignant homage to Ukrainian heroes, adorned with cast stone busts of four eminent figures: Simon Petliura, Evhen Konovalets, Roman Shukhevych-Chuprynka, and Stepan Bandera. Each bust immortalizes their sacrifice in the pursuit of Ukraine's sovereignty. Prominently inscribed on the central monument are the words Героям Слава - Glory to the Heroes.

Mohila Being Constructed in 1962

Unveiled on July 21, 1962, marking two decades since the inception of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), the ceremony was led by Dr. Lev Dobrianskyj, then head of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, alongside representatives from various pivotal community organizations. Over the years, the stage at Mohila has served as a vibrant venue for a diverse array of cultural expressions, including musical and dance performances, ceremonies, and community gatherings, enriching the cultural education and experience of the Ukrainian diaspora.
